The owners of this terraced house noticed their water bill had nearly doubled, and the meter kept turning even with every tap off.
Finding it
We checked the toilets and the outside tap first, then listened along the pipe run from the stopcock. The noise led us to a spot under the kitchen floor, where an old joint had split.
The fix
We lifted just two floorboards, replaced the damaged section with new pipe, and tested it under pressure before putting the floor back. The meter stopped turning straight away.
